September 2022 - October 2022

Hello Students,

Welcome back to school.

It’s a new school year! The 2022-2023 academic year.

I hope you all had a nice summer holiday. If you see Teacher Ham in the corridor, please tell him where you went in the holiday and what you did! Or even what you did at the weekend! If you talk more in English, you will improve quicker. Do you know why? One reason is that when we talk in a foreign language, we practice what we have learned in a real-life context, i.e. talking to others in English for example. This consolidates what ‘you know’. There is also another benefit of speaking more in English, that is…making mistakes! Every time you speak in English, you may make 1-2 mistakes with words or ideas you don’t know how to say or express well. Don’t worry! It’s normal! Quite often, the person you are speaking to will help you to read those words properly and ‘correct’ them for you and then next time you speak to someone, you will ‘add-in’ what you learned last time. It’s accumulative and builds up over the many times you have been brave to speak! Be brave students, keep speaking and keep learning!

So far, our students in P1, P2 and P3 have been busy with the first unit of Space Town of the year, Unit 1 My Sister (P1), The Magic Science Museum (P2) and Mouse to Mouse (P3). You can find some examples of their work in this blog.

Halloween is coming soon! Do you like Halloween? Do you like drawing pictures? If you want to draw a Halloween picture (either on paper or on the computer), you can give your pictures to your class teachers on or before the 11th November. Teacher Ham will then post them onto the BLKT Halloween Art Corner page. See below:

As part of Unit 14: Cool Kids for P3, our students have chosen to learn more about Japan. Have you ever visited Japan? Feel free to share your travel adventures with me when you see me at school. What do you know about Japan? My favourite ‘Pokemon’ character is Snorlax and my favorite character from Keroro is Giroro! My favourite animated film from Japan is, ‘Spirited Away’ directed by Hayao Miyazaki with music by Joe Hisaishi.
