June 2022

Hello Students,

The month of June has gone by very quickly! The weather has been hot and humid so remember to stay healthy by drinking lots of water and eating lots of fruit and vegetables. Which season do you like best and why? When you see me in the corridors at school you can share your answers!

The exams are coming at the end of June and into early July so try your best and work hard. Set your targets high but remember to sleep early and get enough rest. All the best!

Between March and May, our wonderful English Radio Drama team diligently prepared a story called In Unchartered Waters as part of the 14th Smart Education English Radio Drama Competition. We rehearsed on ZOOM and submitted a 5-minute mp3 complete with sound effects in late-May. Our team reached the Semi-Finals and they will perform two live shows in the School Hall in July. We hope you enjoy it!

Feel free to have a look at some of latest resources available on the BLKT website such as the Tongue Twisters and Aesop’s Fables. You may download the videos from the Online Resources page. Rehearsing tongue twisters can improve your skills in reading and speaking whilst the fables by Aesop can help you learn from Aesop’s teachings whilst improving your listening and reading skills.

Over the coming months, look out for new songs about our school featuring a new character and friend of Teacher Ham! Clocktopus the Octopus! Clocktopus is a red octopus who likes going to new places in Hong Kong and overseas and helping children learn English. You may see him in Teacher Ham’s lessons sometimes! Can you guess where he is in the photo below? In August, 2018, I visited Tasmania in Australia and this photo was taken on the summit of Mount Wellington. Clocktopus loves taking photos!

Take care students and happy learning!

Teacher Ham
